92 Civic: wierd rattling noise in the cold
Hi all, virgin poster...
I bought a 92 civic lx, 250,000 kms about 8 months ago and I've noticed recently as its getting cold that when I'm idling the car will begin to make a rattling noise. When i turn the steering wheel to a certain position, it'll stop. If I turn on anything using the battery (like wipers or the radio or headlights) the tone of the rattling changes. Any ideas? |

I have no clue what the sound is from, but I get it too. It could just be a heat shield though. I'm interested if anyone else has any ideas on this.

One more thing: When I throw it into neutral or park the vibrating/rattling stops.

Ok after doing my own research it looks like the engine mount might be the trouble here. But i've been told to first check the timing belt.
Hope that helps anyone else with this prob. |
