Ok here's the deal. I want a shift light for racing, but I hate those bug obnoxious lights shining right in your face that blinds the hell out of you. What I want is have the actual gauge cluster glow red or something when I hit my shift point. So when I'm driving, I get a glow coming in the cluster area. Makes sense? I think it would look bad ass, but not sure hot to pull that off.
I could get one of those ebay shift lights and disassemble it, but not sure where to position the lights to do it right. I don't want to see the actual lights. Some of the are multiple LEDS, which I can easily run wires for and place in different locations. Any ideas on this?

Re: Shift Light
Actually as I'm sitting here thinking about it, I could place it under the radio. In that little "drawer" place I custom made a Mitsubishi and Chrysler logo out plastic. The cut outs are backed with paper, making them foggy white. If I place the light behind there, the logos would light up at my shift point. I always wanted to put a light behind there anyways. I'm thinking I may do that, but I still want to try the cluster deal.

Re: Shift Light
My turbo timer has a shift light feature. The screen glows blue but then flashes red at a certain rpm point. It also has a speed warning on it. This would be the route I would go if I was you considering your going to need one anyways. I think I payed a little over $100. I also have it mounted under the radio. Its made by hks, let me see if I can find it.

Here you go, it has so many different features. Make sure to get the black one so it reads us specs.

Re: Shift Light
Get one of those ugly types, disassemble it, remove that big ass orange light, and tap in a LED into the bottom part of the gauge cluster. It shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming.
