Lights Out
This morning driving to work, I lost all of my dash lights and tail lights. This is the second time in a couple of months that something like this has happened. The last time I took the truck to PepBoys and they replaced a circuit breaker?
You guys have any ideas as to what is causing this? Thanks, Gary

You have a short in your illumination circuit. Sounds like it blew the fuse again. Should be a 10 amp (? not positive of the amperage) fuse in the panel inside the vehicle. The dash lights, tail lights, and front marker lights are all on the same circuit. If you have a trailer wiring harness try disconnecting that first. They cause all kinds of odd stuff if they go bad.

My Rodeo has been blowing this fuse for the dashlights and taillights on a regular basis. Now as soon as you install a new fuse and put on the lights it blows. I have had the truck at my mechanic's shop for almost two weeks and he can't seem to fix the problem.
There is no trailer hitch. I am looking for any help.  Thanks, Gary

Do you have an aftermarked stereo? The factory ones use both illumination (dimmed and full illumination) circuits which usually arent used on aftermarket ones. If the wire is loose in there it could be shorting on something. If not, I would start by removing the tail light bulbs, then marker light bulbs, etc eliminating parts of the ciruit in turn till you find which area is causing the problem.

I do not have an after market stereo. My mechanic has been removing the bulbs one-at-a-time to try to identify the problem.

So I finally had enough with my local mechanic having my truck for over a month and not fixing my electrical issue. Tomorrow I will be taking it to a place called A-1 Auto Electric. I just hope that it is fixable and that the guy doesn't charge me too much. I will post the findings tomorrow.
I wonder if anybody from the Pittsburgh area is familiar with this shop, A-1 Auto Electric in Turtle Creek PA? Yes there actually is a place called Turtle Creek!

So I take the truck to the auto electric specialist yesterday and drop it off. He calls me three hours later and says that he put a new fuse in and has been running the truck with lights on and the fuse will not blow!!
So I brought it home and so far the fuse has not blown. Any thoughts on this situation? Gary

A1 Auto Electric did not charge me anything and neither did my mechanic who had the truck for a month. So I guess that's the blessing in all of this.

The saga continues...Last night as I was driving home from work on the PA Turnpike, in the dark, the fuse blew. So I pulled over and replaced the fuse, turned on the lights and it blew again. So I drove the 35-miles home with the flashers on cause I had no tail lights.
I called A-1 Auto Electric while driving home last night and dropped the truck off later in the evening so they can take a look at it today and hopefully fix the problem. I will update later today.
