Motor coming out
Come hell or high water!!!!! Im not playing around any more. This coming saturday. i have 1 week 2 find the oil leak. i can't screw around with it any more. got a lil vacation time 2 tear it apart. 7 straight days. It leaks from what seems like everywhere. When i drive more that 15 minutes it smokes like a sob. oil pouring out and hitting the hot pipes brakes wheels the entire underneath is coated. ive wiped it clean and come home to it being covered with in an hour. losing oil like its an actual FUNCTION "Oh yeah the oil leak and powerlocks come standard". ive been told everything from cooler lines to REAR MAIN SEAL. Im takin it completely apart replacing all gaskets hoses seals vacuum lines and fluids. the whole shabang. and if i dont find the leak. Im burning it to the ground!!

Re: Motor coming out
Nice to hear from you again GirlBear, I hope you find her leak. I guess I must have gotten very lucky with my truck, I replaced the oil lines two years ago and she is still as dry as desert sand underneath .....
Good luck GirlBear.Dino

Re: Motor coming out
Just a question . More oil to the front or to the back of the engine ? Do you have the plastic or metal valve covers ? Bad leaks like the one you describe Usaully come from the valve cover gasket . Just check around them with a flashlight. When you put them on the plastic ones have a bad habit of coming out of the groove. And look sealed but are not. Try pouring a qt of oil in the passenger side cover then the drivers side through the breather grommet. If it is the gasket you will get a river of oil . If not just drain the two qt's you put in. I hope that this is your problem. easier to reposition the covers than to do a engine rebuild.

Re: Motor coming out
make sure the pcv system is working.if its not it will leak from every where.make sure that its getting enough vacuum as they tend to clogg
up in the tbi base causing no/low vacuum |

Re: Motor coming out
to determine a oil leak , do a simple test, "Crank Case Pressure Test" plug off PCV hole and other holes on your valve covers, and also make sure ur dip stick is sealed with a "0" ring and your oil filler cap is also air tight, start car let idle.*note: make sure you do not use plugs that seal valve cover so that pressure can't blow them out...on a no leak veicle it will blow the caps off, if not then it should piss out where shes leaking from, giving your motor a good wash with a pressure washer, b4 test will help pinpoint your leaks, hope this help gl

Re: Motor coming out
Open hood.
Open eyes. See tube connected to valve cover and other end connected to air inlet duct between filter and throttle body. This is to allow fresh air INTO the crankcase. This is the air that the PCV pulls out of the crankcase (along with blowby). If the PCV is clogged, the blowby will vent OUT through the valve cover tube that is supposed to supply fresh air inlet, and into the throttle body. That is why a clogged PCV will NOT cause crankcase pressure, and thus will not cause a leak. |

Re: Motor coming out
i agree if the valve stops working!! but if system gets clogged(no vacuum) it cant displace crank case pressure. then system builds pressure & escapes by lowest means of resistance (ie. dip stick tube)

If the PCV was clogged, the crankcase blowby will flow OUT the fresh-air inlet tube. This is an unrestricted tube connecting from one valve cover to the engine-air intake, which has what?? Vacuum. Sorry for hijacking your post, GirlBear. How is your blazer working now? |
