Re: help on changing the air filter
The easiest way is to first remove the black ribbed intake that goes from the supercharger to the airbox.
1. unplug the wire that goes to the top-center of the intake. 2. loosten the wingnut where it goes into the airbox. 3. Pry the intake (Carefully!) off the supercharger inlet. 4. Wiggle it off the airbox and set it aside. 5. Unsnap the 2 airbox snaps, lift up and out, and change the filter. Reassemble in exact reverse order. Except: If you have trouble getting the intake to snap back onto the Supercharger inlet, lube the edge slightly, and install here before you attach it to the airbox side. |

Re: help on changing the air filter
Did you accidentally disconnect any sensors MAF (Mass Air Flow), IAT (intake air temp), TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) or the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve when removing the air inlet tube? Other than that, I can't think of anything you could have done while inspecting an air filter that would cause the car to not start.
here's a link to our tips and maintenance sub-forum showing the location of the above mentioned parts on a 3800 series-II (the locations on the Supercharged engine in you car are similar). http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=746374

Re: help on changing the air filter
A disconnected IAT should not prevent starting. I can disconnect mine and it will fire right up.
Define not starting. Starter not engaging and cranking or cranking and engine not firing up?

Re: help on changing the air filter
Sounds like a fuel supply problem maybe just coincidental with the work you did on the air filter. Check the fuel pump fuse. Also, fuel pump relay to see if it is energizing. With a bad fuel pump resistor the car should start but stalls out in a matter of several seconds.
You can check fuel pump priming. With ignition to on you should hear it prime for a couple of seconds.

Re: help on changing the air filter
Yikes!!! How did you burn out your pump by checking the fuel filter??? Ha Ha, Just kidding, one of those freak instances.
