Engine wont turn over

When I turn the key in the ignition all i hear is a click. Not sure what the problem would be, i know it is not the battery because it was just replaced 3 weeks ago. Would this be due to a faulty ignition switch or some other problem. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Engine wont turn over

b/c I dont know what kind of rig/mile-age u have, I suggest first to check this (guess its Nissan) http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/5 - see also pages 10 & 23

Typically this nostart with click is: bad contacts, worn starter brushes, solenoid -and/or- charge problem.

Re: Engine wont turn over

Bypass test, after checking the thick gnd and plus batt wires and batt voltage:

Theres the solenoid hot ctrl wire (with plugin connector). Find spare wire, push its bared end into solenoid side plug, touch plus batt pole with other end. Solenoid kicks in and starter will turn (if starter&solenoid is ok). If not, repair/replace.

Re: Engine wont turn over

Just because you replaced your battery dosen't mean you got a good one. Some the batterys people buy can sit on the shelf for months or even years. If you have a volt meter check the charge of your battey. It should be around 12.60 volt on a full charge. Jump start the car, and remove the cables. Now your car should be producing 13-14 volts. If it isn't you possibly have a bad alternator. If your car stays running take it to any auto parts store and they can check all this for you.

Good luck
