Can You Help Me Change The PS Pump On My Mom's 95 Altima?
Hey, everybody. Let me start out by saying that I know nothing about Nissan. My mom has a 95 Altima GXE and I'm pretty sure the power steering pump is bad. I can hear the bearing making all kinds of racket and she told me she's leaking fluid. Plus, it makes ALL KINDS of noise when you try to steer it.
Mom can't really afford to take it to a mechanic, and since I'm pretty handy under a hood, I'm gonna try to tackle the task. But, I don't really know what I'm doing. Is there anyone who can help here? Like, maybe direct me to someplace where I can download the information I need to DIY? An online service manual or something? Those are easy to find for Hondas and Mitsubishis. Can't find anything for her Altima. The space to work with looks a little tight. I won't have to raise or lower the engine, will I? There's no way I can bring it out from above. Is it possible to take it out from below? Also, what about the pulley? Does it need to be pressed on and off? I guess just give me any information you can. I want to know how difficult this is. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated by me and my mother. Thanks Jon
