04 grandprix blower will not shut off
Has anyone else had a problem with the blower not shutting off? Even when you remove your key from the igintion the blower keeps blowing out air and I can not controll the air flow, even when the car is on, like it it stuck on high.
I have to unplug the battery cable to get it to shut off. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem? |

Re: 04 grandprix blower will not shut off
This problem is a carry over form the '97-'03 models. You have a bad blower motor control module. The fan hi-speed relay is located on this module and has battery power at all times regardless of the ignition switch. It will kill your battery sooner or later.

Re: 04 grandprix blower will not shut off
It rained all yesterday afternoon into the evening. When I unplugged the blower about a 1/4 cup of water came streaming out of the bottom of the blower. I am affraid that my problem may be more serious than what I thought. We were going to replace the module as you suggested but now with water in the blower I am not so sure what to do next. Do you have any ideas as to were the water is coming from?

Re: 04 grandprix blower will not shut off
First check the HVAC drain hose and make sure it is not clogged and connected properly. Next remove the plastic intake cowling which should be passenger side below the windshield and inspect for bad or missing rubber seals. Also, see if you have a cabin air filter installed.

Re: 04 grandprix blower will not shut off
Yes!! i am having the same problem in my 04. it just started over the weekend. I've been trying to find info online about it when i found this.
BNaylor, I heard it might be the blower motor resistor. do you know if this could be right? Any idea how much the control module is? |

05 grand prix blower wont work??
I have replaced the motor twice and they work to start but then seem to stop working? could the motors be bad or is it the resistor?
The motor used to work after tapping it then stoped working all together. ^new motor installed^ The motor worked fine then just stoped working, now the motor "ticks" As if it get jaunts of power only for a moment and the fan will spin again for 1-2 sec. then stop and tick again. The ticking coinsides with the blower setting. low- tick.................tick................. tick high- tick....tick....tick....tick... Any thoughts? Thanks!!! |

Re: 04 grandprix blower will not shut off
all the problems you describe, fits this bulletin #1644694 you have to install a blower Capacitor. Some customers may comment on an inoperative or intermittent Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) blower motor. Others may comment that the blower motor speed may momentarily drop or that the blower motor continues to run after the key is turned off.
<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1644694&psdid=422&evc=sm#ss2-1644694">Cause This condition may be caused by a voltage spike from the wiper motor. The voltage spike may cause a logic lock up in the blower motor control module that may be either momentary or permanent. <A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1644694&psdid=422&evc=sm#ss3-1644694">Correction DO THIS DON'T DO THIS Install a Capacitor at the Blower Motor Control Module Connector DO NOT replace the Blower Motor Control Module, Blower Motor or the HVAC Control Head Technicians are to install a capacitor, P/N 25073556, at the blower motor control module connector using the following procedure:
Part Number Description Qty 25073556 Capacitor 330UF, 50V 1 i would check this first.i have done a few of these with this problem |

Update
Ok, So I hooked the blower motor up to a 12V battery and it worked fine, its not the motor.
Next, I took off the control resistor and opened it up. I saw that all of the connectors that were soldered to the computer board were corroded I used some electrical cleaner and wire brush to scrub it clean. I plugged in the resistor and then the motor and the motor started spinning at a VERY high speed eventhough the car was off and no key, etc. ------------------------- No I just saw that most recent post about a capacitor. Where can I get one? Only at the stealership? Also, I cut off the red and black leads to the blower resister and add a capacitor to each? then reattach to the relay? If I could be shown a "repaired photo" It would help emmensely. Thanks again, Zach |

Re: 04 grandprix blower will not shut off
the capacitor is dealer only part.part number is 25073556.when you install it you skin back a small section of the black wire an d small section of red wire.your putting the capacitor fron the black wire to the red wire.make sure you solder it in,very important.i dont have a picture, but look at the picture of the bulletin i posted.that should help.you are taking the capacitor and putting it inbetween the wiring at blower control module.
