coolant light

My engine will randomly chime and put on the low coolant light. When this happens I always pull over and check just to find out the resovoir is full and the radiator is full.

Sometimes I want to just ignore it and let it chime (it always goes off about 30sec later) but with my luck the one time I ignore it is when I really wont have coolant.

I'm pretty sure its a sensor, I just have no idea where the sensor is.

Any help is appreciated.

The sensor is in the plastic tank I believe, so you don't need to pay attention to it too closely. Just what someone told me a while ago.

Re: coolant light

Hhmm i changed plastic tanks because mine had a hole in it and I didnt see any sensor, nor did i have to plug anything in. Maybe I missed it.

But it was also doing the low coolant thing before i changed it.
Its just really annoying when you are into a good song and this the chime kicks on.

Re: coolant light

I have a 94 Ninety-Eight and my sensor was on the left lower side of radiator(passenger door side of car). you will see 2 wires connected to a plug. Part costs about $25

Re: coolant light

THank you. I changed my temp sensor and my temp gauge started working (never worked before) now I"ll change that sensor.

Thank you for your help. Now I can stop hearing that annoying ding ding ding ding ding. etc.

THank you. I'll change it tomorrow just looked at autozones site my local one has one in stock. Better go early with my luck someone else will buy it.
