Question S10 Heat Gauge

Can anyone tell me why the heat gauge on my 1986 s10 2.8 goes up an down? it isn't hot but the gauge is acting up. it has new radator an thermasat in it. thanks

With the engine cold, make sure it's full of coolant now. Sometimes it takes a few days to settle out all the air.
Sudden weather cooling will activate extra thermostat activity too.

Did you experience these symptoms before the radiator and thermostat were replaced? How much fluctuation is there, (how many degrees)? Air in the system, as Chris mentioned, is a very real possibility.

This Problem , Started When We Put All The Sensers On This Truck, An New Fuel Pump An Comp. An New Timeing Chain An Gears.then We Put New Cap, Rotor An Module. Then We Put A New Thermaste In Cause We Had Water Pump Off When We Replaced The Timeing Chain. It Isn't Hot The Gauge Just Goes Way Up An Then Kinda Up An Down. Just Don't No Why. Debs10

An open circuit will cause the needle to go to full hot. There may be a loose connection somewhere, check the connection at the temperature sensor first, make sure it's clean and tight.
