3 cylinder in a festiva

hey my friend had a metro that he wrecked but i think the engine is still good. I found a festiva that he might be interested in, but he is hooked on the gas mileage that the metro was getting so he doesn't want to go from 40mpg to 32(give or take a little) for the festiva. so i was wondering if it is possible to do an engine swap and put the metro engine in the festiva. thanks for any comments

It's all but impossible unless you transferred the entire engine, transmission, axles, then none of the motor mounts would match up and you would have to fabricate yoiur own mounts and weld everything to the body. None of the elctrical components would be interchangeable. It probably wouldn't physically fit in the Festiva engine compartment. No, for all practical purposes it simply couldn't be done.
