1991 Toyota Question

Alright, we'll latly iv been doing alot of thinking and i dunno from the list of things i need to get for this truck . ( Fender,Door Skin, New Bed Panels,TailGate, Rims/Tires,Radiator,Radiator Hoses, *Fix the Coolant Problem, Full Tune-Change Motor Oil,Plugs,Wires,Cap/Rotor,Coil,Tranny Fluid/Filter,Diff Gear Oil for both Diffs,All new brakes all around) Truck has sat for 3yrs prior to my ownership and i dunno just latly thinkin about what id have to put into it to really get it back on the road.

This has been bothering me for the past week or so and id like to finally get a straight answer from someone to tell me if it's worth it or not, so if somone good give me some pro's and con's of this project it would be greatly appreaciated. All that is listed would need to be completed or near completed in a month (need a truck for winter) but i can get all of it done in about a week as long as i just work on it constently, i guess just toss out your look on the situation and maybe i can finally put this issue to rest.

Thanks

Marsal

Basic stuff "Radiator Hoses, *Fix the Coolant Problem, Full Tune-Change Motor Oil,Plugs,Wires,Cap/Rotor,Coil,Tranny Fluid/Filter,Diff Gear Oil for both Diffs,All new brakes all around" is easy and fairly cheap ($150-200)

"Rims/Tires,Radiator" easy not so cheap ($100-150 for rad, $500-600 rims/tires)

"Fender,Door Skin, New Bed Panels,TailGate" not so cheap, not so easy, and is it really necessary or can it wait a while?

Is the rest of the truck in good shape, does it run good?

If you really need the truck and there's no options, $700 or so isn't too bad, especially if you can put-off the sheet metal stuff for a while.

But it's up to you.

Wink Re: 1991 Toyota Question

If you will allow my 2 cents. The key words are Prioritize and Luv, Under the heading of Prioritys is SAFETY/Security/reliability. Always remember safety 1st. and of course Budget$ and Time will always be an issue

I recenty fell-N-Luv W/a 87 toy (cost me $16c) and MBJudgement went out the window!!!. I now have $11c invested in parts&labor in addition 2 the,$$of the trk. I could of purchased a realy nice trk for that kind of $$$. Some will say, "thats 2 much $ in that Ugly OLD TRUK" ,,but I Say, "It's Safe, It's Reliable and I Luv it."

Just my $00.02's

Re: 1991 Toyota Question

And, i completely agree with you on that, i have went to another Toyota Forum "TTORA.COM" and they pretty much told me , it being for free pick it up put about $500 into it to get it running "PERFECT" and keep it as a project, i dont plan on spending that much but i will spend enough on it to make it what i want it to be. First things first i will get it running perfect then i will work on the body, Because i can put $500 for now to get it running perfect and drive it as it looks just for the time being and fix it over the winter, or spend $500 on a car and have more issues and prob spend more then $1000 just on fixing it. This truck isn't that bad it just needs some TLC and someone to actually take care of it , make it look like it should again the previouse owners beat the hell out of it has a clean title though so that's good but i will do my best to bring it back, i should have the truck here really soon and so when that happeneds pictures will be taken, a full bio of the trucks first day here and over time how things are going what i have done and so forth, and the finall view of it when im fully completed.

Thanks for the help everyone

Marsal
