Firing Order

I pulled the front coils off to check the spark plugs and the hoses fell which screwed up the order ..... the hoses read the following numbers on the top...69,122,137......do these mean anything? I cannot get the firing order correct

Re: Firing Order

Which engine is this? From reading it, it sounds like the 3.5, in which case its pretty much impossible to screw up the firing order.

If its a 3.8 this should answer your question.

Re: Firing Order

Yes it is the 3.5 I thought it was impossible to do as well but it is running like crap since I removed the coil......it shifts hard, hesitates when I first start......

Re: Firing Order

Thats really strange, the way its set up, the whole thing is almost impossible to screw up...a good thing for people like me.

Make sure that you got the coil posts seated into the spark plug boots properly, and that none of the boots are torn or damaged, how did you remove them?

From there I would check the wiring to the coils, perhaps something got damaged?

Thats just really strange, because the firing order cant be screwed up as long as the coil is installed properly, which it will only go in one way.

Re: Firing Order

I know the wires on a distributor cap have to be put back a certain way...do the hoses that connect the spark plugs to the coil have to be put back a certain way?

Re: Firing Order

Im still having trouble understanding what you mean by "hoses".

Are you talking about the boots, or insulators you might also call them, they are kind of a dark brown color, they go on top of the spark plug and then the coil posts go into them as well. They are all the same and should interchange.

There is a small ground spring on the underside of the coil that perhaps might have fallen off or something? or not be making proper contact with whatever it is supposed to ground to.
