Opinions?

Ok so as some of you know i have already posted some of this info in the classifieds section, but I am looking to start working on the body this weekend because i finally got my suede today, and my trunk should be done in a day or two.

So i came across this picture on the internet a few days ago...

And i instantly decided that i wanted to stick with the origional body style, and not go with a body kit. The only problem is i have been having some real trouble comimg across a set of OEM side skirts for my RS, which made me remember this eclipse i saw at school last symester. It had a stock body with aftermarket skirts, and it wasnt lowered, but it looked pretty bad ass.

So these are the skirts i was looking at getting, to go with the stock body, I am just looking for some opinions before i start spending money, but i think it would look really nice, and it would be slightly customised body wise, which would be cool. I would also lower it to finish the effect.

Re: Opinions?

My buddy has that body kit and it doesn't look too bad. But he bought that car with the kit already installed and we both agree the stock look is better.

Re: Opinions?

Me personally... I don't think "Blitz style" skirts would look good with stock bumpers. First, because the factory bumpers are more rounded where as the "blitz" side skirts are boxed off. I just don't think it would flow good. Also the rear section of the "blitz" skirts go way the hell up the side of the car....which I think is way too agressive and bulky on a stock car. I just think they will stick out and be odd looking. But thats just my opinion. If you like the skirts then go for it....just be sure to post up pics of whatever you do.

Re: Opinions?

Blitz skirts on a stock body will look hideous. They will be much lower than the rest of the body and they won't flow at all with the rest of the car. It's like when people put just a front bodykit on and nothing else, its way lower than the rest of the car and looks like absolute shit.

Re: Opinions?

Yep, so i bought those skirts, should be getting them end of this week. I paid 230 shipped, which was a little steep i thought, but like SilvrEclipse said, i knew i was going to have to pay it to get them. He wanted 180 for the skirts and 80 for shipping, but i got em a little cheaper, besides it will be worth it once the car is done and lowered... so pretty!

Re: Opinions?

There is 3 pieces per side so shipping would be a little high. 230 shipped isin't bad. Then you just have to get them painted. Good luck on the install. I want some pics.

Re: Opinions?

Yeah, skirt itself, the door cap, and the piece that clips to the door.

Re: Opinions?

I suppose thats true, a sked him and he said the sale didn't include the caps...nice to know, lol... but he said he would give me a good deal on a set he had, does anyone know what they run at the dealer off hand? I kinda feel like im getting jipped, but i suppose its gonna cost me to do this... He also mentioned the sale didnt include fender caps, i have never heard of fender caps, does anyone have a pic of them or can someone explain what they are?

Thanks

Yea im really not sure what he is talking about he said they cover part of the skirts and they help hold them on... it was kinda confusing so i just figured i would wait and see, when i got them, what i needed to finish the job, and i suppose i could always get the door caps from a dealer or something, man this is turning into a project, lol

Re: Opinions?

Fender caps, door caps, fender molding...it's all the same thing. Just make sure you get the right ones, because the 95-96 are different than the 97-99 ones.

Re: Opinions?

Ok so i found out that i am only getting the skirts themselves and the mounting hardware. Kinda sucks being i paid $230 to by them and get them shipped to me... But yea i was just curious, the same guy wants $100 for both door trim pieces, and like $60 for the two fender cap pieces. Do you think i would have better luck at a dealer? Im going to call up there and see what these pieces would run me, i cant imagine they would want much more, i already feel like im getting ripped off, so i might as well buy them new, the only good thing is the skirts are in perfect condition, so i kinda feel like i came out ahead with them...
