Which Transmission Fluid???
The car is a '92 Rodeo 3.1 V6 5 speed manual w/ 4wd. I've been told to use engine oil by my haynes manual, dexron 2 by isuzu customer service, and gear oil by pep boys. Someone put gear oil in it before and when it drives in gear it whines alot. The manual says it might be a Borg Warner trans but I am not sure. What do you guys think?

Re: Which Transmission Fluid???
I know the old 91 5sp Rodeo took 5-30 motor oil for the transfercase, but I cant remember what the transmission took. Sorry, Andie

Re: Which Transmission Fluid???
crawl under there with a rag or paper towel, find the id plate, wipe it off, and read what trans you have.

Re: Which Transmission Fluid???
Hi, I couldn't find an ID plate. But from looking at it, it is not the Borg Warner, so that means it takes regular old motor oil. The previous owner put gear oil in there and when I drained it, there was a yellow foam lol. Do these transmissions have pumps?
