95 Mystique scan tool

Hi, does anyone know what kind of scan tool is used for a 95 Mystique with the 2.5L six cylinder from Mazda. I've seen one for Fords and Mercurys up to 95 the the Mystique model is for 4 cylinders only. Any help would be appreciatied, Thanks.

Re: 95 Mystique scan tool

The 2.5L in the Mazda is not the same 2.5L used in the Contour/Mystique.

The Mystique came with both I4 and V6 engines in all model years.

If you have a 95, you have OBD-I. You dont use a scan tool like OBD-II. Instead you count the flashes. See FAQ on contour.org on how to get codes.

Re: 95 Mystique scan tool

Thanks for the info. Actually I thought as much as I already bought the OBDI scan fool for Fords up to 1995 but thanks for confirming that it's the right one. I have one other question and that is the plug for the scan tool which is located driver side near the firewall has wires leading into the plug holes - is this normal. I haven't seen another plug which looks the same any help would be appreciated.
