Unhappy Corolla won't move in neutral

Hi, I am new here; searched and found no answers. Have a 99 Corolla parked in the garage with no reverse as of last night. Start it up, stick it in neutral, it won't budge. Is this some sort of safety thing that they have? But even if I sit in the seat, do up the belt, it won't move....I did have the door open as I was the only one available to push....

Also had a 96 Corolla and could not get it to move in neutral but that one wasn't running so I figured that was some sort of safety lock.

I guess my real question is how do I get this thing out of the garage? It will work in D, 2, 1, just not R (and no, I didn't know that when I put it in there...)

Thanks, Bevin

Re: Corolla won't move in neutral

Hi.Could you get a friend to help you push it out of your garage? Or get another vehicle and a tow chain.Corolla's have a tow hook underneth the rear bumper. There is a small acess hole located at the floor shifter. It has a small plastic cover over it.You pop the cover off with a screwdriver and insert the screwdriver into the hole.Maby that will unlock the transmisson. If you have your owener's manual. It will explain this process.Good luck...Diesel 1962
