Corporate Fleet Lease

Hello Forum,

I am considering buying a 525i. The CarFax indicates that it was formerly a corporate fleet vehicle. After Googling it, it seems it might have either been a rental car or maybe was a company car for use by employees. From what I can tell, maybe cooporate fleet vehicles are better maintained. Any truth to that? Either way, if anyone can provide any info or has any experience with Corporate Fleet Lease vehicles, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Corporate Fleet Lease

Well I'm more than confident saying that it has been broken in.

The problem with corporate leases is that the people that actually drive them don't necessarily take good care of them, i.e. baby them.

Since it isn't their property (the person driving it) they might beat them up a bit more. I know I would. Although if something did break it would atleast get fixed.

And if it was a rental car you KNOW it was beaten up. Did you know that there is a limiter on the new Impala's? They only go up to 172 km/h! WTF!?

It's funny it even pops up on the HUD saying limited to 172 km/h. I was pissed. My beamer does 240, could've gone faster but there were vehicles infront of me. BTW got a great movie of it on my facebook website....

Anyways, I'd go with a person selling privately before getting a fleet car. Although if the price was right and it was low mileage it could be worth it.

Re: Corporate Fleet Lease

I recently bought a former corp. lease 540i. It was in pretty good shape as it was driven by the "upper echelon". I drove it from Denver back to my home in SW Kansas and within a month i heard a rattle in the front suspension. Fearing it was a control arm or something i looked under the front and noticed the anti-swaybar links were a bit worn at the balljoints. I got a new pair from online and installed them myself ( about a #3 in difficulty) and am happy to announce the noise in GONE!!!
The car had been serviced by a dealership in Denver on a regular basis (check the former owner for records and driving habits) so I guess i was blessed in that regard.
Do your homework to avoid major repair needs.
