Exclamation 94 Firebird V6 Service engine soon light

My service engine soon light comes on while Im driving it but I cant get the light to flash any codes with a jumper wire or a code scanner now the car seems to have a problem I was thinking maybe the EGR but any help would be appreciated.I have the older OBD1 12 pin connector.

Under what driving conditions does it come on? Or does it come on immediately after you start your car?

It comes on under normal driving conditions.I live in the City limits .

like what type of driving conditions? i dont know what my code is, but i know i can trip the light by letting go of the accelerator for a long time and letting it coast

What year is your car? I'm guessing either a 93 or 94. Odds are you probably have the same problem as stoned and I. Does the light normally come on the same way stoned mentioned? If so, then it is your EGR. It's a very very common problem on the 3.4's. If this isn't the case and your's comes on under different conditions, then it is very hard to tell as to why. Your best bet would be taking it to a dealer and have them scan it. Or you can buy something like this and scan it yourself:
