have a 2004 Sierra 2500 6 ltr SLT Crew cab with OEM heavy duty suspension and no other supension modifications. ..OEM 16 inch tires. I will say that the vehicle rides great on the road...like a limo! However, it will bounce significantly when I hit bumps and dips in the road.
Whats the best shock out there for ride? have been looking at Edelbrock shocks and Bilsteins. What has been your experience? During the summer I will pull a Fleetwood E3 off road tent trailer that weighs in at around 3000 lbs empty. Sam

Re: What shocks give you the best ride
I have a set of Monroe Gas-Magnums on my '98 Sierra short-bed; according to the Monroe website they are designed for full-size P/U's and SUV's. I like the ride control; stable and well-damped motion....plus they are still made right here in the good ol' US of A (Gabriels by the way are now made in Mexico). I don't kid myself into thinking my truck is gonna ride like a car so an ultra smooth ride is not a goal for me.

Re: What shocks give you the best ride
I put Edlebrock AIS on my wife's Grand Marquis.
They are great. I wish i put them on our F350 on the rear instead of the Bilstiens. I'd get them again. |

Re: What shocks give you the best ride
When you say best ride, you need to be more specific. Are you talking about a soft ride, or a stable ride? I have worked in the automotive field for about 12 years now and have used and sold a lot of different shocks. For quality the best I have found so far have been KYB. If you want a soft ride I would look at there GR2 grade shock, they are a good shock but are designed for a softer ride. The Gas Adjust is there mid range / load control shock, if you pull or haul a lot then they will be the shock for you, but the will have a very controlled (stiff) ride. The Mono-max is there top of the line and a mix between the two, but are closer to the Gas Adjust ride, they are more of an off road shock. They have a controlled ride but will not be extreemly stiff when empty. I have ran them on my last 2 trucks and my wifes truck. She likes the ride better than the softer shocks because it is more controlled and doesn't bounce down the freeway when she hits a bump. I hope this helps. BTW stay away from Monroe gas magnums. If you could see one that has been cut apart you would understand why.
