ok so i have 98 cavalier and when i go over a bump my wipers turn themsleves on whats wrong and how do i fix it

There is a good chance that the wiper module is bad. I am not sure if just the module is replaceable on that one or not. It may come as the whole assembly.
Did some more digging and found that you can replace the module. It is also called the wiper cover, but it contains the circuit board that tells the motor when to turn on and off. As stated, that is only a direction to go in. I would check all your wiring and voltages first to be sure the multifunction switch is good as well.
