Question damn you electricity . . . please help

I'm having some problems with my truck electrical system. Basically there is a draw of some sort that drains the battery when I'm stopped. I haven't had to jump it yet because it charges fine, but one of these days my luck is going to run out.

some specifics on the issue:
I pulled all my fuses one at a time and put a multi meter inline to see on which circuit the draw was. I found an approx. 5 amp draw on 4 fuses! This confuses me. There were three in the fuse box under the hood (EFI, ALT-S, & DOME) and one in the fuse box in the cab (ECU-B). How I managed to end up with 4 shorts of some sort I don't know. Does this mean that perhaps I've got some circuitry that's fried? Help anyone?!! please.

when it started:
About half way through the summer my temperature adjustment stopped fully rotating. The knob would strip out if I tried to rotate it too far. Now that fall is here I figured I should get it straightened out. I took apart my central console to pull some stuff out and do some investigating. Turns out the problem seems to be that the flappers near the heater core don't like to rotate very well. They're not obstructed by anything so I figure the bearings are just a little gummed up or rusty. Anyway after the first day when I had just disconnected my stereo, the cigarette lighters and aux jacks this started?

I would think that if it was one wire shorted out from moving it around I'd only see one circuit drawing a current. I'm not sure though as I don't do this every day. Anyone else ever had this problem? Suggestions on where to go from here?

Thanks,
Mark

If you had shorts, fuses would be blowing or wires burning out. A current draw and short are not the same. What year and type truck? Try disconnecting the alternator and see if the current draw stops. Your problem is probably going to be in the area you worked on. You need a wiring diagram for your vehicle.
