1997 Grand Am Instrument Panel Cluster going crazy ("posessed")
Hey There,
Hoping to get some help with my wife's '97 Grand Am. Today, when the wife started the car , the instrument Cluster was acting like it's possesed. All the warning lights are flashing and the spedometer and RPM needles are jumping all around, and this happens when ideling or driving the car. The car had been sitting for anout 10 days while we were on vacation. Does anyone have any thoughts on what might cause this?? Thanks in advance. Jeff |

Re: 1997 Grand Am Instrument Panel Cluster going crazy ("posessed")
Welcome to AF guys!
It's most likly the cluster , and could possibly be the ignition switch(lock cylinder). Certain years/models(95-97) of GA's have been notorious for the ICP's shorting out due to weak solder points. Check Ebay for a remanufactured one or search the net for a place that repairs them. Or you can look in local salvage yards, but thiers a chance a used one will do the same thing. I know if you do a search in the GA forums you'll find boat loads of posts on this same problem. But please do not bring up threads older then 3 months. ![]() Hope that helps you guys out!
