1991 Cougar brake problem. Brake Relay?
I have a 1991 cougar, with ABS and when i start the vehicle, the brake pedal remains extremely hard, no brakes whatsoever and the red brake light and yellow ABS lights stay on. After a few ignition on and offs, the lights will go out and i have brakes again, but only until the ignition is turned off. Then out again. I can here a clicking noise when the lights go out and the brakes work. When the lights stay on, i hear no click and have no brakes. Could the abs brake relay switch be the cause for this strange behavior? If not, any suggestions? Thanks for all of your help, and happy holidays to all!

I would check all the electrical connectinons to make sure they are tight, and i would check the realys to see if maybe a coil inside isn;t shorting it's self out. I would also maybe check to see if you a short to ground somewhere in the ABS system. Thats all I can think to do, sorry
