2003 Avalanche 4WD Problems

I have a 2003 Avalanche with 83K Miles and on my 4-wheel drive engage buttons the neutral light comes on and stays on intermittently or all the time and sometimes the 4WD low or high light comes on and does the same thing. I am unable to get the 4WD to lock into any other position when this happens. The truck runs fine when neutral light flashes but hesitates and runs poorly when the 4WD high or low light trips on by itself. At this same time all the 4WD buttons are not responding. When I try to use them to place the car in Auto or 2-wheel drive or any other drive the light flashes then switches back to neutral, every once in a while it switches mysteriously to 4WD high or low or nothing happens and the neutral light stays lit. Any idea what could be causing this.

Re: 2003 Avalanche 4WD Problems

You need to get it on a engine/transmission capable scanner to see what is going on.
Check for codes and post back codes and go threw the transfer case test built into scanner.
Also check all wiring and power feeds and grounds real close.
