Exclamation TPS Problem and a few others...

1994 Buick LeSabre

Ok here's the deal, I have had this car for a little over a year now and it has had it's far share of problems probably due to poor maintenance before my acquisition of it. I have replaced the serpentine belt, ignition coils, pcm/ecm computer, pcv valve, MAF Sensor and the Throttle Position Sensor, now mind some of this stuff was routine with a tune-up and I have keep up with all my oil changes and spark plugs and wires as well. My problem is I changed the TPS about 5 months ago and have had no problems until a couple of weeks ago and now it is back to it's old ways, I have unplugged it for the time being and it still seems to run ok besides the fact it will not shift into the final gear so it stays in 3rd. The symptoms were erratic engine revving, high idle, and a hesitation while changing into 4th gear now by unplugging the sensor this has stopped so I am fairly certain that it is bad but I do not understand why since I just bought a brand new one less than a year ago.

Also my battery light is coming on but the voltage is fine, wondering if it is possibly the alt. going bad. Another thing is I hear a strange buzzing sound that comes from under neath the car after running the ac or just driving for a while and was wondering what that could be.

Anyway hopefully someone will have some suggestions on what to do because I have lost all hope with advance auto and auto zone it's like talking to a bunch of retards.

BTW the actual connector seems the have heat cracks in it and it is really brittle and was wondering if someone had a solution for that as well. I will try to post some pictures if I need too.

PS: Anyone know of a way to get a code checker for this year of car? Autozone nor Advance Auto has one and I have been unsuccessful in finding one.

Sorry can't help on your problems, but regarding the code checker I believe your car has the OBD I (12 pin) version, and if so, with the ignition on, but not running, you run a wire from the A to B terminal, and your Service Engine Light will blink out the codes. Check this site for the OBD1 connector showing the A and B ports. About a 1/3 down the page.

That's ok hopefully someone else can. But I know that my car has that stupid OBD 2 connecter I read somewhere that the 94 and 95 models were a hybrid year. I have taken to Autozone and various other stores but their stuff wont read my codes.

I know when you have a problem, you want to get it resolved ASAP, however, don’t be impatient, most of us have full time jobs and have limited time here. We all try to help when & where we can. Impatience and sarcasm will not get you a faster, or improved response!

You might want to consider replacing the PCM again, I think it would solve your problems. I hope it is still under warranty! Don’t feel bad, I had a dealer installed ACDELCO unit fail within three months. Try to get them to replace it under warranty if you can! BTW, you need to check all battery connections under both terminals for corrosion and clean, or replace as necessary. Voltage spikes can causes PCM failure!
