Transmission Problems

Okay, so this is a way over discussed topic on this thread. The transmission (or rather the solenoids) in this car really sucks, and I'm ready to get rid of the car. I changed the fluid by dropping the pan, cleaned the bottom of the pan, and added lubegard about 2 weeks ago. The transmission worked great, but started acting up again today. Now it's worse than ever. I get the hard shifting, but also what feels like gear hunting at around 35 mpg. I'm tempted to try another bottle of lubegard. Has anyone had success with 2 bottles of lubegard versus just one? I really don't want to spend 700 to have the faulty solenoid changed out again.

Re: Transmission Problems

Maybe the problem is not in the transmission. How does the tranny act if you manually shift it? Put the car in 2nd and take it up to 60 mph. High rpm's are very good for the transmission since it help remove deposits.

Is the fluid level at the proper height? Check it very carefully on a level surface per the owner's manual. A second bottle of LubeGard might help but make sure you remove some the tranny fluid first. Don't overfill the tranny with fluid.

Re: Transmission Problems

Good advice...Ive know people who simply add a bottle of some kind of additive, without removing some fluid first. a little overfilled wont hurt but once you hit the point where your fluid gets full of bubbles you can burn your tranny up fast...
