Itrip Question

I recently purchased an itrip so i can listen to my ipod in the car. My problem is that it works in my car but not well at all. I have tried it in two other cars and the itrip is actually clearing most of the fuzz when i tune the itrip to that station or it will block most chat on a clear channel and then i play the music and can't hear anything. On my car however, if i put it on a clear channel with chat my ipod won't work well and it doesn't cancel out barely chat and its fuzzy on just a fuzzy channel when i tried it on another car it blocked out most of the fuzz and such. Is this because my car is too old or my radio is outdated? i have a 1995 nissan altima gxe, i was wondering if replacing my radio with a more current one will make a difference.
