In need of drive shaft

Hey guys,
I'm in need of a drive shaft for a 1977 omega but one from a nova should work also, correct. I am putting in a Chevy 350 with a tH350. Before it had a 231 with a TH200. If you have anything that could help please let me know, call any time.

You should be able to find a drive shaft at a parts yard. Chances are though that the rear universal joint may not match with your differential yoke. It is a must that the splines match in the tranny also. You need to know if you have a long or short tail on your tranny to get the proper length shaft. You can also have a drive shaft built for you. Check the phone book for a speciality/speed shop. They should be able to modify your drive shaft to fit or make you one.

Just to let you know, you should be able to use your present drive shaft as long as the length of the tranny isn't much different and the yolk fits in the tranny. Or if you have a yolk to fit the TH350. You can get u-joints with different sized ends to fix compatibility problems. I just put an 8.5 inch rear end in my Nova and it required a bigger end on the u-joint than my drive shaft had. The local Parts For Trucks had A u-joint with 2 big ends and 2 small ends that fixed the compatibility problem. Just had to take the drive shaft and differential yolk in so that they could find a u-joint to fit both ends. So, as long as your drive shaft is the right length and you have the yolk to fit the tranny, you should be able to get a u-joint to match the two ends. You might want to check with your local parts or truck shop first to see if they have any of those u-joints with the different size ends. I even bought new 5 leaf rear springs for my Nova from the local truck shop waaaayyyyy cheaper than anywheres else. Only $65 for each side. Hope this helps.

If you don't want to do it yourself a drive line shop will custom make one for you. They can cut one shorter and reweld. They also can balance a shaft if you want it done. This is not the cheapest way to go but it is an option.
