Does anyone know how good or bad American Legacy amps are??
I found a legacy 2000 watt amp for around $150. Is it a deal or a rip off?

again, you usually get what you pay for. Name brand equipment is usually more expensive, the specs are much more accurately stated, and the equipment is generally far more reliable over the years.

Re: legacy amps??
I had a legacy 200W amp, till recently. it lasted VERRY well. Untill I installed a biger ground wire. apparently a 2000W amp will push about 14,000 watts across 2 twelves @ 1/4 ohm. who knew?

well, let's see (per channel)
200W @ 4 ohms 400W @ 2 ohms 800W @ 1 ohm 1600W @ 1/2 ohm 3200W @ 1/4 ohm that's a lot of power out from an amp .... the protection circuit should have kicked in, when it sensed the very low load. |

Re: legacy amps??
I personally don't like legacy, but I had someone that I met who had a really good sounding legacy amp hooked up to 2 12"s ported. so I don't know. These were rockwood twelves. All cheap stuff and it sounded pretty decent.

legacy is shit, and so is pyle, pyramid, and crunch and profile just to name a few.
legacy is actually renound as probly the most popular of the ''cheap brands'' to put it mildly. but my friend has said some of the legacy subs have bumped nice in the past, but i will garantee that the amp that says 2000watts, which is max. is not putting out that sort of power, and most amps don't usually ever put out their max power, but their rms power rating is a different story. i have not yet found a legacy rms power rating anywhere. if i were you i would buy a rockford fosgate(mainstream brand) or an avionixx(non-mainstream).anything but the ones i listed at the top. just curious what are you pushing that requires 2000watts. i mean c'mon, these pretzels are making me thirsty.

Re: legacy amps??
Profile California are actually very well made. I don't know where you get your info from, but I am sure many others would agree that profile are great amps for the cost
