97' Bonnie SSE Rear Strut Lower Mounting Bolts removed??

I am fairly experienced on cars, rebuilt 4 or 5 and more engines. But, I am stumped (momentarily) on removing rear struts. The lower mounting bolt nuts are loose and removed. However, I cannot get the bolts themselves to either move, rotate or budge towards removal. Since I have not performed on '97 rear struts before, I wonder if using force, such as light hammer might help? Or are these lower mounting bolts, threaded into the knuckle? I do not want to smear threads if these lower mounting bolts are not sliders.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Snowfox
PS these are gas charged and self-leveling air provided struts. Thank you!

Re: 97' Bonnie SSE Rear Strut Lower Mounting Bolts removed??

My son & I just changed the struts on his 99 SSEi & had the same problem. They're just rusted solid. I'm about 220 and stood on the end of a breaker bar & couldn't get the passenger side bolt to budge. Even a 500 ft/lb impact wrench wouldn't work. We ended up double nutting one end & he used the impact on that while I bounced on the breaker bar. We also used lots of PB Blaster. Make sure the car is properly supported (jackstands) while you're standing or bouncing on the breaker bar.

Mickey#1. WOW! I have supported okay, but I still wonder are the bolts going to unthread (wrench to back out) since the nuts are removed or can a smack 'em good with a heavier hammer to set up breaking the rust loose? Were your backed out or assited via impact vibrations? I guess since you two double-nutted and breaker barred it, they need to back out via threads? Thank you!

The bolts don't thread into anything but the nut. You can try hammering them out but it didn't work for me. I was considering buying a 3/4" breaker bar when I thought of double nutting to try turning from both ends of the bolt. I also considered removing the control arm & pressing it out at work.
