Re: 95 windstar rough 1st shift
I posted in the other thread......what I read in TSB # 98-22-1
HOWEVER it is ONLY for 1996-1998 with 3.8L engine, built through 11/5/97 It is a long post......and, honestly, much of it is out of my scope of repair/testing. They give some road test checks...and some possible causes of the problem. I have NO clue as to how to do the EPC pressure test......but mentioned that anyhow. I only get the TSB list that would apply to my 1996 windstar. So any TSB that would apply ONLY to the 1995 will not be in my list. 1995 was the more problematic year for the transmission. Obviously, keeping fresh fluid in there is super critical....and is the FIRST step that I would recommend....as well as verification of the correct fluid level. Hopefully, if they got a quality rebuilt tranny (expensive), it would have had whatever updates that were applicable at the time done to it during the remanufacturing process. It ran me over $2800 for a FORD remanufactured unit, installed, back in about 2000 or 2001. I seem to remember the tranny being listed at around $1900 on the repair invoice.
