1997 Town car Trunk wont open
I have a '97 TC. When I press the trunk lease button on the driver's side door the trunk will not open. I can only do so now by placing the key in it. When I press the trunk release button I hear a click but the trunk wont open.
Thank You in advance for your help. |

Re: 1997 Town car Trunk wont open
You'll have to check the circuit.. simplest thing to do right now would be do check the fuse powering the trunk actuator

Re: 1997 Town car Trunk wont open
I already checked the fuse and that's fine. It's a 15 and it's intact. What else could it be ????????????????
Thanks |

Re: 1997 Town car Trunk wont open
you really need the wiring diagram to test the circuit... It could be anything from an open in a wire, to a bad trunk motor.. check for voltage and ground at the actuator connector

Re: 1997 Town car Trunk wont open
Hold on a minute here, He said he heard a click when the button was
pushed. If that click is in the trunk then the fuse and wiring have to be ok. Go to the trunk and inspect the latch and motor unit for a mechanical problem. Kinda like "this lamp does not work but another one plugged in the same outlet does". In fact most of the lights on the house do too. Guess I will go check the main house breaker. !! ????? The click indicates there is something electrical reaching the trunk. Have a helper push the button while you examine what is happening in the trunk.
