Re: found older si civic

gah... make sure if it's an 87 or 88... if it doesn't look like the front end of your car, the manifold is crap, not worth your time, and nothing works the same as the 4th-4th gen swap.

There are plenty of parts for sale really cheap on this forum, as well as many other places nationwide that will hook you up w/ everything you need to do the swap PROPERLY.

Re: found older si civic

whats easier is just see if the back of the car is flat, then its definitely a 87, and I wouldn't touch it. Just get you a 4th gen manifold

Re: found older si civic

yeah, that's true, didnt' think about it... if it's a CRX, and it doesn't have the glass above the tails, it's crap... if it's a hatch, well, check the rear suspension, that will solve everything... if it has an axle tube between the tires, don't use it.

I happen to own a 1985 CRX HF that's getting a 'teg motor swapped in, w/ a turbo. Plan on bracketing it, maybe next season.

Re: found older si civic

actually, the car is parked behind a friend's garage.. it' sout of gas (on purpose) so they couldn't get it started, not to mention they don't have the keys to it... so guess how they moved it?

Two 50 year old guys picked the car up... and it has the stock engine in it still... lmao. My dad and his friend MOVED MY CAR MANUALLY... I was quite amazed the geezers still had it in them :P

Re: found older si civic

Lol, thats how me and a friend got the motor out of mine, didn't have an engine hoist at the time, so I dropped the engine on the ground, me and him picked up the car and moved it. Right now its in my back yard and to move it, I just grab it with one hand and start walking, but mine don't have doors, bumpers, or the front bulkhead on it

Damn it, I'm going and thread jacking again

Re: found older si civic

umm... I removed the engine by hand from all three of my honda's... just me, never had a friend.. usually wrap a board & chain around it, unbolt everything, then just lift it up and out... and I"m not a big guy, by any means..

Re: found older si civic

They weigh about 150-200 depending on the engine, I believe thats longblock only.

Re: found older si civic

We weighed in a D15B2 @ close to 300, that was with all accesories, alternator, engine harness, and A/C pump.

But, if you position yourself right, you can place your own arms as leverage against the car, and lift the engine up high enough to get it on the fender, then pull it out from there... (duh, this goes w/o saying, use a tack mat on the fender, so you don't beat it up.)

Re: found older si civic

You mis understood me....we lifted the CAR over the engine, not the engine out of the car Otherwise most of the time its only me working on my cars, might have a friend come over just to motivate my ass to go outside and work on it.
