2000 Silhouette transmission, all of a sudden NOTHING

I was driving along about 20 miles per hour when the trans just stopped working, no noise, no gears. I drifted to a stop, put it in park, stared at the shift lever for a moment. put it back in drive, nothing, no gears forward or backward, just the puring of the motor...It does lock in park, The neutral switch is working, The cable is fine, one odd symtom, the interior lights always go off when I shift into gear, not now...Any Idea's?
