2002 300M 4 disc cd changer prob's

2002 300M 4 disc cd changer bought used...hooked up...and nothing. all 5 orange lights flash....wont accept cds makes a noise as if its changing tracks etc. there are no cds hung in the changer...i took off the top to check that. is there security codes that have to be entered for this player..? my local Chrysler parts guy says no....its simple plug & play. any buttons that need to pushed in a certain order to make this work...or is this just a dud..? thanks of course....for any info.

turns out to be a defective changer bought on e-bay. no codes or special insructions required on this car. got another..and it works great.
