Won't turn over

Just wondering if anyone can solve this. I have a 92 stealth RT. I went to start the car and it will not fire. It ran great a week prior to this. I'm getting fuel and spark. It has to be some sort of sensor not allowing the engine to fire. Please help. Puzzled.

Re: Won't turn over

if you are getting fuel and spark, then the next thing to check is the timing. do a search and you'll find out how to do this.

Re: Won't turn over

People need to leanr definitions.

Cranking = turning over.

So it turns over but wont fire?

Fuel, spark, compression, timing are the four factors that need looked into.

i don't want to sound like an ass hole but where did that come from i don't see any where were someone said cranking or turning over. unless someone got emBAREASSED and deleted their post. but thats good to know cranking = turning over i didn't know that. i thought cranking was when the car is trying to turn on but wont and i thought turning over was when it turned on.

oh or were you just letting people know in case they didn't? idk i'm just bored!!!!

oh sorry bawana33 for stealing your thread.

Re: Won't turn over

His title says wont turn over. When people say it wont turn over that means, or should mean, the car wont even crank. For some reason people have it stuck in their heads that turning over is firing up.

Re: Won't turn over

What makes you think it's a sensor? Is there a check engine light? How did you check for fuel and spark? What happened between the last time it was running and the first time it didn't start? (including any noises) Can't help much with no info.

Re: Won't turn over

i'm curious to see how you checked for spark as well. The timing shouldn't just jump like that unless your belt skipped a couple of teeth somehow or the CAS somehow got out of whack. I'd try compression testing as well and see what your cylinders are reading.

Re: Won't turn over

everyone is suggesting in depth thougts... if i were you i would check the ignition, wires, battery, maybe the alternator.. it sounds to me like something is loose or off.

i put in an alarm myself, and wired it so that if i have window lock on, you cant crank/start/fire, etc. my car, all in relation to the ignition because it has an ignition relay on it.

i'm not diagnosing, just giving you the best advice that i can.
