00 Maxima Power Window Goes Up then drops by itself.

2000 Maxima drivers window.
When activating drivers power window switch to the closed possition the glass will go all the way up but, when the switch is released the window will roll down about 2 inches by itself.
I swapped a test switch off another car that works perfectly and still has same result. Car has no aftermarket alarm.

The power window motor is losing it's "memory" (a function built in for the auto up/down). You can try to reprogram it, however once they start that means the motor is going bad. Best thing to do is change the motor assembly out.

My guess is that glass limit sw needs adj/resetting...

Check/clean contacts, fuses; see http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/14

Check:
- Power supply = gnd& healthy +12V reaches door, smart entrance ctrl unit (open/if necessary, resolder))
- power window main switch.
- encoder and its signal
- check/reset glass limit switch (door panel opened). (BT-21, EL-227)
- Regulator motor, wiring, window free movement: Obstacles in window, glass molding, etc., worn or deformed glass molding, door sash tilted too far inward or outward

- 5V between power window main switch terminal 9 and ground during power window closing operation at least ten times.
- Encoder: Measure voltage between power window main switch terminal 16 and ground with oscilloscope when power window is in automatic closing operation: 5V pulsing signal. If not ok, replace reg motor.
- Manual suggests checking RAP retainer signal with ConsultII

Can you tell us how to reprogram it? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. Mine is my passenger door. Also about the same time the auto lock on the same door does not work. Does any one think it could be related?
