93 metro cooling fan
I just purchased a 1993 geo metro xfi for 400.00 and the front was smashed a bit but I bought it because the frame wasn't rusted at all. But the problem is when I was looking under the hood there was no radiator fan. Is this normal? Car doesn't overheat or anything but if it needs one what side does it go on and how hard is it to install? Thanks for your help. Great site.

Sensor Locations ![]() Description and Operation RADIATOR FAN CONTROL Fan Activation When the ignition switch is in the "ON" position, system voltage is applied through the IG Fuse to the fan thermostat switch. The fan thermostat switch closes when engine coolant temperature reaches 98°C (208°F). With the fan thermostat switch closed, voltage is applied to the coil side of the radiator fan relay. Since the radiator fan relay is permanently grounded at G101, the contacts close and voltage is applied through Fusible Link B to the radiator fan motor. The radiator fan motor is permanently grounded at G102 and will continue to operate as long as the fan thermostat switch remains closed. Fan Off When the engine temperature falls below 93°C (199°F), the fan thermostat switch opens, and voltage to the coil side of the radiator fan relay is interrupted, the contacts open and the radiator fan motor stops. Radiator Fan: Service and Repair Disconnect battery ground cable. Drain cooling system and disconnect upper radiator hose from radiator. Disconnect fan motor electrical connector. Raise and support vehicle, then remove one lower mounting bolt from fan shroud. Lower vehicle and remove two upper cooling fan mounting bolts, then remove fan from vehicle. Reverse procedure to install. |

Re: 93 metro cooling fan
Thanks a bunch. Found it right away. Ordered one on ebay for 55.00 and I'll be good to go in a couple days.
