78 400 timing specs?

1986 K10 with 78 400 motor.Anyone know the timing specs? Label shows 6deg but that's for the 86 engine. Timing mark was bouncing around so bought a new distributor, not put in yet.
2- Weird thing- hibeams won't go off so I put in a new headlight switch on the steering column, same thing! It clicks off ,dash lite goes off but hibeams stay on. eh??
Thanks in advance!

6 degrees should be just fine. The engines hardly changed at all in that short a time.

About the headlights, Generally you would create a thread for each seperate problem. Not a big deal, but it gives you better (or at least more) results.

If this is a new truck to you, check and make sure someone didn't splice the hi/lo '+' wires together or something like that. Also check the connectors on the low beams and make sure the plastic isn't melted, allowing the terminals to touch. If nobody has a definate solution by Monday, I'll check the wiring diagram while at work.
