JBL GTO17t Tweeters?

What do you guys think of these for a cheap tweeter? Will I have a problem with them being 2Ω?

Yep, but they run off the door speakers.

They're just mids.

Re: JBL GTO17t Tweeters?

then I am not sure they are a good match .... best thing would be a passive designed for 4 ohm mids and 2 ohm tweets.

How are you keeping the bass out of the mids ?

It is the stock setup in a '91 Dodge Stealth.

Re: JBL GTO17t Tweeters?

it might work for a while, but sooner or later you will want more. That tweet will probably not be loud on stock headunit power, it is designed for like 50-100 watts of power.

Yeah, these stock HUs suck. I'm sure it will do that. I guess I should tell you that I am replacing the HU with a Kenwood unit and Polkdb series speakers in the door anid rear. I wanted to go with a component system but couldn't afford it right now.

I was thinking of running a new wire from the door speakers to a cross-over and then a new wire to to tweeters. Then again I could just use some bass blockers.

Which would you do?

Re: JBL GTO17t Tweeters?

a cap with a 2 ohm resistor would be the best thing ... then you wouldn't need the crossover at all
