Hey i have an 87 camaro, and in the next month or so i will be putting a new engine in it. Anywho I was wondering ((Besides the engine and transmission)) What ealse should i replace on it, to keep my baby running til i die?

fuel pump and filter. change fluid in the rear end.

Belts, hoses, etc. Make sure you put a NEW (not remanufactured) water pump on there. too.

Where do you plan to get the engine? 6? 8?

i sold parts for quite a while, id go with a reman any day over a new, with a reman you getting a factory casting, new not always, i would never ever pay the money for a new pump, because a reman should last just as long

and im not sure where im getting it from. I havent thought all that out yet I wont be dropping it until next month some time. Im just trying to get an idea/bearing on how much money i should save up before i get it. That way i wont do any extra damage to my engine ((Whitch is a rebuilt one))

We install the parts. Remans fail 5 to 1 over quality new ones. Not worth the $20 you might save. Carter, ASC are a couple of high quality replacements. Moroso and Edelbrock offer "high-end" aluminum pumps, but they're overkill. Ignore the superstition of the requirement of a "cast" impeller or other such nonsense.

If you haven't "bought" an engine yet, I would opt for the 350. They're MUCH more powerful, and actually, more efficient. Prices are about the same.

If you want "the real deal", go to your local performance machine shop and have a "custom" engine built. Dollar for dollar, you're way ahead. Craters are convenient, but a well-built engine will drag a crater backwards down the street. Under no conditioins, buy one based soley on price. You get what you pay for.
