Talking motor swap

i have a 96 neon sohc and was looking to put a dohc in it. if i do would i have to change anything like the computer. or would everything go back as it would on the sohc.

You could use the SOHC PCM but then you won't be able to use the higher rev limit the DOHC engine can give you. The wiring harnesses are different based on what year engine you would get. You could just swap the DOHC head on there and be happy as well. They share the same block, only difference is the pistons.

so would it be worth it to switch out the dohc head onto the sohc motor or would i just be wasting my time getting one.

It's definitely worth it either way. Just depends on what you wanna do. Do you want to swap heads or pull the whole engine?

well i will definitly be doing a motor swap cause my sohc has 130,000 miles on it. so when i get a newer sohc i will be putting a dohc head on it. by doing so, nothing else would have to be change. oh and thanks for the info you've been giiving me.

Swap the DOHC pistons as well for a little more compression.

Nope. Its the same block. The DOHC pistons are domed to add a little compression.
