proper valve tension

im having a problem with one of my valves. one of them is making a knocking noise. i have not had the time to rip the valve covers to see which one is the one thats making the noise. what would be the proper tension on the valves?, since i dont want to overtighten the valves. 87 4.3L V6

seville to be honest with you when i bought the car it already came shaved. as for the door poppers theres many out there but take a look at autoloc.com they should still carry their line. but it the long run might not be worth it. you will run into a problem if your battery runs out. plus you got to make sure you have the proper alarm to actually activate the door poppers. doors should open once you hit the button, not holding it down all this does is burn the solenoid motors (learned the hard way),. trunk might be your best thing to do if you plan on running some sounds in the back

WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING,

SLOWLY tighten the rocker stud nut until it stops tapping, then in 1/8 turn increments, tighten 1/2 turn further. The engine will stumble while you make the 1/8 turn increments - no worry, it will smooth out - let it smooth out before making another incremental turn.

Yes, you will get oil everywhere so make sure not to do this on a hot engine - and keep a fire extinguisher handy.

yea, I just thought about how much my friend went through with door poppers. I think I will just get my trunk shaved put a kit on it so i can "wave my trunk" lol. Anyone know where I can get an impala kit? Also, I noticed that the bumpers are different. Can I just get the bumpers bondoed or something to cover up the chrome and shape them like the impala or should I just buy the impala bumper covers they have on ebay. You just install them on top of you regular bumpers. Anyone know where I can get a kit with bumpers, spoiler, decals, hood ornament, and grille? I don't really want to make a full ss clone. I just want the ss look and probably get some Caprice SS decals made. Only if I could find a scrap SS for a few hundred bucks.

If oil drips onto a hot exhaust manifold, you could have a fire.

Re: proper valve tension

I use aluminum foil as a "drip pan" when I adjust valves. Just rip off a long piece, scrunch it so it sits on the lip of the cylinder head. Use cardboard beyond that if you wish, just keep it off hot surfaces and work fast.
