Question 12 bolt rearend interchange

my bud has a '65 Buick Special (like Skylark) with a 12 bolt rear swapped into it. the rest of the car is garbage and it has a Detroit Locker diff (4.10?) so i'm looking to get it. i would like to put the rear in my '76 El Camino. is it true that this will bolt up under any '64-'77 A-body? any help would be appreciated.

Re: 12 bolt rearend interchange

You can ask at Team Chevelle, they got a great forum there. Check with your local auto salvage yard, they all have these neat interchange manuals, all about what fits what. The best one is Hollander, it has part identification info too, like how to decode an axle, etc. I see them all the time on eBay.
