Knock Sensor

I did a gsr swap in the summer in a 95 dx. since i've been running the car the check engine light has been coming on giving me a knock sensor code. when I did the swap my nieghbor wired up the knock sensor and i'm sure he did a good job. At first i wasn't running on 91 and up gas and using 89. Started using 91, that did not fix the problem. I've been thinking it may be that I did not change the fuel pump or the knock sensr is just bad. oh yeah the reason i'm thinking the knock sensor may be bad is becuase it doesn't even retard the motor and v-tec still kicks in. maybe i'm wrong. anyone have any ideas or ran across this problem?

Re: Knock Sensor

I am a General Motora guy, don't know much about Hondas.. However, many GM ECUs have a separate knock sensor module that plugs into the ECU. If your ECU is missing this module, or has the wrong version, this will obviously give you nonstop KS codes. I would look into this.

Re: Knock Sensor

good advice, but hondas knock board is soldered directly into the ecu internally. even if its bad, it doesnt explain why vtec is engaging while throwing a knock code, because it should be throwing the ecu into limp mode

Re: Knock Sensor

yeah my nieghbor has been saying the same thing. he said that if i'm getting a knock sensor code the car should run like ass. but it runs the same with the check engine light on or not. it's wierd. I think the motor may need a tune up. one more thing when we checked the motor out cylinder 3's piston rings were leaking by compression. I don't know but that may be what it is. I just haven't had the time to properly check it out.
