HI. I have a 2001 ford ranger v6 4.0 ltr, automatic, 106000 miles and there is a clicking noise that can be heard when accelerating. and i am worried that it can lead to something bad. where should i start? Any comments/suggestions are appreciated. thanks.

Re: Clicking noise when accelerating
Can you tell if its coming from the engine compartment or from the rear of the truck? and is it extended cab?

Re: Clicking noise when accelerating
It is coming from the engine compartment. I have a Supercab 4dr.
It's like a clicking noise/rattling noise. I checked the heat shields to see if they were the culprit, but they are all snug and tight. |

Re: Clicking noise when accelerating
Does you truck seam to be vibrating more that usual because it could be any of the ujoints on the drive shaft, specialy if its the super cab, the driveshaft is a 2 piece so there are 3 u-joints. Is it a 4wheel drive?

Re: Clicking noise when accelerating
Yeah it is a 4 wheel drive. It doesn't feel like there is more vibration than usual, but then again, I got this truck 3 months ago.
