George Harrison's F1

I only had Vid Caps of his F1 before a few weeks ago, when I was advised by a good friend this was his F1 in the top left hand corner of this shot, identified by the highly-polished wheels -

Recently, another good friend made me aware of this pic of chassis #025

As you can see, and as I stated here, there is more than 1 set of wheels for this car

Re: George Harrison's F1

"AWESOME!!!" seems like an understatement.

Come to think of it, I have another VERY tiny photo of this car I will post later. You can all have a bit of a laugh when I do.

Thanks Greg!

Re: George Harrison's F1

It's chassis #018 - are you in need of the rest of those pictures? There's a total of 5, maybe 6, I think. My guess it they were scanned from an issue of RacingLine, but I have not come across that one in my searching.

Re: George Harrison's F1

I have just found that as well as his Mclaren being shown in his "Any Road" video -

- George's F1 makes an appearance in 'The Beatles Anthology', apparently prior to the song 'Free as a bird' and shows George, Paul and Ringo in the car. I've had a search and found the song but not the car - has anyone else managed to find the car and if so can you post a pic?

Re: George Harrison's F1

I always thought George had a silver F1, according to this picture:

On this site they state both the Rocket and the Macca belong to George. http://www.weismann.net/rocket.html

Unfortuantely that site is incorrect - George always had the car from new, and it was never silver. I am unsure about him owning a Rocket; I am sure our very own rocketphile will be able to shed some light on that for you

Aye. He owned R007. He was a very good friend of Chris Craft and GM. I even have some footage on it, shot at Goodwood FOS. http://www.lccrocket.com/content/view/32/2/

Any idea who owns the silver Macca on that pic?

Re: George Harrison's F1

Sometimes when I'm bored I dig through the forum looking for questions from 3 years ago that never got answered...

The silver F1 in that image is chassis #001. Two distinct features which prove this can be seen in a larger version of the picture I'll share below. The first is the circular door button cutout - later production cars used a U-shaped version that fed into the rear edge of the doors to allow your fingers better access to open them. The second are the door mirrors - you can see from the protruding base that these are the Citroen CX-sourced mirrors, and not the later versions borrowed from VW's parts bin.

Chassis #001 wasn't the only F1 to have these two features, but it would be the only silver F1 that would, barring XP3 which had different front marker lights than the car in this image, thus ruling it out.

Another thing we can be certain of is that the image does show Harrison's Rocket as the plate in the larger version matches the one seen in your Goodwood FOS video.

= = = = = =

Anyway, has anyone seen chassis #025 lately? I'm kind of sad we still don't have more/better images of Harrison's car.
