EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

Damn it, I've started on the Original Teile CLK-DTM and found out all Tamiya sprays have been pulled from the UK due to "EU labelling issues" (I'm a complete Euro-phile and pro-EU, but sometimes stuff they do are just EFFING STUPID).

No AS-20 or TS-54 anywhere in the UK...

Does anyone know of a colour I can use in it's place, without resorting to import from the US?

Cheers.

Yeah, the Euro to Yen rate is pretty good these days, isn't it?

But if you can't get something in Europe, the exchange rate is irrelevant when it comes to getting it from elsewhere.

That's certainly true- but the fact that cans are being pulled from shelves for relabeling stickers doesn't necessarily mean an individual HLJ order will be stopped, does it? If importing from the US was an option in all but cost, why not get it straight from the source?

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

as far as I know, this current dry spell is onlt going to be temporary.
I don't see the paint being unavailable for long.

where you at and how desperate are you.
I got a next to full can (i sprapyed a spoon for testing) with a bit that isn't doing anything for the foreseeable future laying about.

TS-54 is the light metallic blur, right?
The one suggested to match the alpine a110.

I'll do a quick check to see if halfords has the equivilant in their off the shelf paint range tomorrow as i'm going there anyway.

By the way:
they seem to be in stock here.
Just in case you've not bought from them before, I can recommend them highly.
Stock levels are live, communication is very good with e-mails at every stage of the process.

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

Thank you very much Monkey!

I have bought from that site before, they are very good indeed.

I will check if it's economical to import from HLJ, if not I'd be glad to buy the AS-20 off you.

Cheers

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

The cans seem to be in stock over here in Germany. If you want to I could help you out to avoid hefty shipping prizes!

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

Thank you all for the help!

I looed around and none of the usual Japanese importers (HLJ, 1999) actaully sell Tamiya sprays, maybe it's too common a sundry item to be listed.

P.S> love your CLK-DTM Godfather.

Here you go.

600y for 100ml- not too bad.

Katsura, try Rainbowten (I'll never tire of recommending them because they're awesome).

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

Just after speaking to the Tamiya rep for NI and for the little info they've been given it could be after Xmas before we see the Tamiya sprays again in the UK.

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

Let me be the first to ask the real daft question... You stay in the UK and you're NOT using Hiroboy's range of Zero paints...? Try them, you'll never look back!

Re: EU regulation and Tamiya Sprays

I would if they offered the right colour.
Steve is not very fast at responding to custom colour mix emails. I ha ve requests before but gave up after no reply for a very long time.
