Welcome to AF

Have you owned this car since new? The radio security code has to be set by the owner, so if it was activated, someone did it. If you didn't buy the car new, or put in your own number, then you're going to have to go to the dealer to over-ride the previous owners code. If you have an owners manual, the proceedure is in there for unlocking the radio if you (or your husband) put the code in.

Rich, sounds to me like maybe her husband unhooked the battery. maybe the code was set by them or by the previous owner and they didnt even know.

wolfliren, you can go to this...

i did this like 6 months ago on a 95 firebird. Dont pay $50 for the dealer to "crack the code"
This mioght not be the dealer code i used, so if it's dead, google for a working one. Heres how ya do it,
press the 2 & 3 numbers at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will come up; press the am/fm button for about 10 seconds; another code will appear; dial 1-800-537-5140 and enter 106010 followed by the # sign; enter the 4 or 6 digit code from your radio followed by an *; the phone number will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code; enter this code into your radio just as your owners manual tells you to - use the hour and minute buttons to put in the unloc code.

Disclamer* just for legit owners who forgot their lock #'s

I cannot mention the place i got this info because I think its aginst forum polocy, but i myself was lucky to find it. I bought i cd player off ebay as a "working pull" and got it home and installed, and it displayed LOC. I was pissed off, and the seller got lucky i didnt leave bad feedback all thanks to this procedure.
